Sunday Sessions Jazz & Dine October

Description

The Jim Mullen Organ Trio

It’s a great pleasure to welcome Jim back to Norwich for a performance with his renowned organ trio. Their skilful interpretations of the jazz standards coupled with Jim’s unique sound, a mischievous inclination to quote a variety of tunes over the chords of another, and his gentle Glaswegian humour between songs all make for a highly entertaining evening. The band invariably delivers a masterclass in the art of the organ trio, so be sure to book early for what’s certain to be a popular evening!

Sunday Sessions Jazz & Dine November

Sara Dowling with the Simon Brown Trio

Born in Oman to an Irish father and Arabic mother, Sara spent the early part of her life travelling through the Middle East due to the nature of her fathers work. Perhaps unsurprisingly her listening influences were eclectic, varying between Erroll Garner, Wynton Kelly and Bud Powell to the great Arabic chanteuse Fairuz.

Although a highly accomplished ‘cellist with a degree from the Royal Northern College of Music, since 2009 Sara has focused on her vocal career, establishing a reputation for her immensely emotional vocals, spell-binding interpretations of classic ballads and for the energy and vigour with which she tackles the up-tempo standards from the American Song Book. Her recent album From Shadows Into Light  received five-star reviews.
